Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on October 27 that the enemy’s actions were timely detected and the Azerbaijani side carried out pre-emptive strikes on the enemy positions. The Armenian side suffered losses and was forced to retreat.

The Defense Ministry warns that the responsibility for the escalation of tension on the contact line of troops falls on the military and political leadership of Armenia.

The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 26 times throughout the day, the Ministry furter said.

The Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Voskevan village in Noyemberyan region, nameless hills in Ijevan and Krasnoselsk regions, Ayqedzor village in Berd region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in Qushchu Ayrım and Bala Jafarli villages in Gazakh region, Aghbulaq village in Tovuz region and nameless hills in Gadabay region.

The ceasefire was also violated near the Chilaburt and Goyarkh villages in Tartar region, Mehdili village in Jabrayil region, as well as nameless hills in Goranboy, Tartar, Goygol and Fuzuli regions.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s.

Long-standing efforts by US, Russian and French mediators to end the conflict have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 are reported missing and almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
