- By Amina Nazarli

DHL, the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry, has opened its representative office in Azerbaijan.

DHL Global Forwarding Azerbaijan passed the state registration via "single window" system of the Taxes Ministry in June 2016.

The authorized capital of the company is 100 manats ($60). The official representative of the company is Turkish citizen Inandj Behcet Kerem.

The company repeatedly voiced interest in conducting freight traffic between Europe and Asia through Azerbaijan.

This May, Azerbaijan Railways and German's DHL have come to an agreement on the establishment of a large logistics hub in Azerbaijan. This hub will include goods from China to Turkey, Europe, Russia and other countries.

Moreover the recent meeting between the head of Azerbaijan Railways, Javid Gurbanov, with the head of DHL’s Shanghai branch, Allen Chen, in China, discussed the development and prospects of the TransCaspian International Transport Route, which is a part of the EastWest transportation corridor.

After commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, which is a part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the volume of freight traffic via the corridor will increase and simultaneously, cargos’ delivery period between Asia and Europe will decrease.

So far, DHL has sent five container trains through Azerbaijan.

DHL is present in over 220 countries and territories across the globe, making it the most international company in the world. With a workforce exceeding 340,000 employees, the company provides solutions for an almost infinite number of logistics needs.

DHL is part of the world’s leading postal and logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group, and encompasses the business units DHL Express, DHL Parcel, DHL eCommerce, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Freight and DHL Supply Chain.
