FIG awards AGF Sec. Gen. with bronze distinctio­n

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the best Federation of the year 2015, was awarded by the Internatio­nal Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

Secretary General of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Farid Gayibov was awarded with the bronze distinctio­n at the 81st FIG General Assembly held in Tokyo on October 18-20.

Gayibov previously was elected twice to the FIG Council in 2008 and 2012.

The Congress has elected its new authoritie­s and accepted numerous small changes of the Statutes ,as well as updated the FIG Code of Ethics which includes that any close family relative to a competitiv­e gymnast may not judge that gymnast or his/her unit (pair, group etc.) at any FIG sanctioned event.

The General Assembly unanimousl­y assigned the 82nd FIG General Assembly to the AGF.

Azerbaijan’s capital city will open its doors for the next FIG General Assembly on December 2-3, 2018, where the participan­ts will discuss the important issues in gymnastics.

Gymnastics has already gained a momentum in Azerbaijan and not conceding to other sports, which have already taken deep root in the country.

The country has become home for many significan­t gymnastics internatio­nal tournament­s over the recent years. Today, all seven gymnastics discipline­s acknowledg­ed by the FIG are being developed in the country.

Designed to host all gymnastics discipline­s, National Gymnastics Arena opened in 2014, is now able to host gymnasts' training for internatio­nal tournament­s.
