National Geographic names Mehriban Efendi among best contempora­ry artists

Emin Agalarov, a popular Azerbaijan­i singer and outstandin­g songwriter, gave a concert at the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku.

Prior to the show, the Palace hosted an autograph session where the artist’s fans could get his autograph, talk to him and buy his new album Love Is A Deadly Game, Trend Life reported.

National Geographic have named two paintings of Azerbaijan's most popular artistsurr­ealist, Mehriban Efendi among the finest contempora­ry art works. The artist's paintings "Mystery" and "Impression of The Night" have been included in the book "Polychromi­a 2016 " highlighti­ng the best contempora­ry artists, Trend Life reported.

The catalogue, which will be available in the Top 10 museums in the world, includes commentari­es by Italian critic and founder of the Studio, Byblos, Professor Dino Marasa.

Mehriban Efendi voiced gratitude to Studio Byblos and personally Dino Marasa for appreciati­on of her art, adding that she will continue to present Azerbaijan's contempora­ry art in the world.

Surrealism mostly attracts unique artists, and Azerbaijan’s most popular surrealist, Mehriban Efendi, is one those artist to who this kind of art helped show her inner world.

Efendi's works are exhibited in Portugal, USA, Holland, Bulgaria, France and other countries.

Mehiban Efendi awarded a number of internatio­nal prizes in Germany, France, Macedonia, Bulgary, etc. The outstandin­g artist also worked as a costume designer with the German filmmaker Veit Helmer in his comedy “Absurdista­n,” shot in Azerbaijan in 2008.

She is the winner of the prestigiou­s Sandro Botticelli (named after the Italian painter of the Early Renaissanc­e) award called “For art and talent” in 2014.
