“Full collection of musical works” by Arif Malikov presented
“Full collection of musical works" of the world-famous Azerbaijani composer, People`s Artist, holder of State and Heydar Aliyev awards, Professor Arif Malikov has been presented at Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall named after Muslim Magomayev.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the presentation.
Participants of the event first viewed an exhibition of Arif Malikov`s books in the foyer of the Philharmonic Hall.
Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Gayarev, in his remarks at the ceremony, highlighted Arif Malikov`s contribution to the development of Azerbaijani music.
President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Akif Alizade said the outstanding composer`s works have been performed in more than 80 countries.
The ceremony featured a concert where Arif Malikov`s works were played.
People's Artiste of the USSR and Azerbaijan, full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Cavalier of the Heydar Aliyev and "Istiqlal" Orders are just a few of the titles and awards that our outstanding fellow-countryman, professor and composer Arif Malikov holds.
Malikov has composed eight symphonies, three ballets, seven symphonic poems, the vocal and symphonic poems "Motherland" to the words of Tofiq Bayram, the cantatas "Voices of the Earth" to words by Vaqif Samadoglu, 13 suites, the operetta "Waves", two cycles of romances for voice and orchestra set to the poems of Nazim Hikmet, chamber and instrumental music, film soundtracks and music and songs for theatre shows.
His works have been performed in many countries, including Russia, the USA, Great Britain, France, Japan, Brazil, Austria, Norway, Finland, Italy, Egypt, Thailand and others, and also in the former Soviet republics.
