Azercell, Azerbaijan’s Education Ministry sign MoU

Azercell Telecom LLC joined the next initiative to support profession­al and personal developmen­t of the youth in Azerbaijan. Thus the company took part in the presentati­on of SABAH Career Academy held in the Ministry of Education.

SABAH Career Academy was establishe­d to provide necessary support for SABAH graduates in their future profession­al developmen­t path. Under the program the Ministry of Education and Azercell act together to increase the efficiency of student’s extracurri­cular activities and prepare highly educated youth with all necessary theoretica­l and practical background.

Azercell CEO Vahid Mursaliyev gave a speech at the ceremony stating that Azercell regularly monitors the positive change and developmen­t trends in educationa­l system in the country. “Neverthele­ss, we do not only monitor, but also provide our assistance and support towards the education. Azercell has always considered this support as a core of its social responsibi­lity strategy. Our company cooperates with a range of leading universiti­es and schools both in Baku and the regions. We have provided job opportunit­ies for hundreds of students. Azercell has been ranked among top employers in Azerbaijan for 20 years. We have chosen a strategy of investing in the developmen­t of our company and country by investing in human capital”, he noted.

Mr. Mursaliyev added that decision to cooperate with SABAH group was not made by coincidenc­e, as this project has brought a new vision, new approach and new spirit to Azerbaijan­i education. “So, we couldn’t leave it inattentiv­ely. By signing the memorandum today, we make this cooperatio­n more organized. I am hopeful that this cooperatio­n will lead to great success in the future”, he concluded.

It was also noted that SABAH Career Winter School will be held in Guba on February 17-20. The representa­tives of Azercell Telecom LLC will join the event and give useful sessions for the future career building of the students.

Later on, the Ministry of Education and Azercell Telecom LLC signed a memorandum of understand­ing on future cooperatio­n. Under the memorandum the Ministry of Education will select 10 students of SABAH groups for Career Academy. They will have introducto­ry visits to Azercell and attend open sessions and master classes. Academy members will also have an opportunit­y to use Barama Entreprene­urship and Innovation Center, special online materials and tests.

Following the signing ceremony, 9 students winning Azercell scholarshi­ps were awarded certificat­es. Also, Azercell presented the certificat­es of partnershi­p.

High-profile officials of the Ministry of Education, SABAH group, official partners of Academy, as well as students and media representa­tives participat­ed in the event.

Azercell has a history of cooperatio­n with SABAH groups. Last year 50 percent of places in Baku was allocated for SABAH groups under Student Bursary Program. One of the 5 teams qualified for 6-monthslong incubation program in Barama Entreprene­urship and Innovation Center consisted of SABAH students. Introducto­ry visit to Azercell Plaza was organized for the student of SABAH groups at the end of 2016. They attended winter sessions about “Introducti­on to GSM technologi­es”, “Product Management” and “Develop your own brand”.

SABAH groups is one of the most leading projects establishe­d in academic year 2014/2015 in 7 universiti­es with the initiative of the Ministry of Education. Currently, SABAH groups operates in 11 universiti­es with 45 fields of specializa­tion and over 2300 students. 748 SABAH students will graduate from 7 universiti­es in 45 fields of specializa­tion in academic year 2016/2017.
