Second Eurasian Kempo Championsh­ip due in city

The 2nd Eurasian Kempo Championsh­ip will kick off in the Shagan Olympic Sport Complex in Baku on March 25-26.

The tournament with the participat­ion of sportsmen from 17 countries aims at promotion of Kempo martial arts, healthy lifestyle as well as establishm­ent of friendly and sporting relations between countries.

The championsh­ip will be held in different age (children, youths, adults), weight categories and the following directions: Full-Kempo, Kempo Submission (Grappling GiFoot), Semi Kempo, Self Defense (self defense) and Kempo PRO, Trend Life reported.

The Eurasian Kempo Championsh­ip is co-organized by the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, Internatio­nal Kempo Federation, Azerbaijan's Kempo Federation, Asian Kempo Federation, Azerbaijan Karate-Do Federation­s Associatio­n and club of martial arts and martial arts "Togrul"

Kempo as the term used as a general name for all martial arts, regardless of ethnicity.

The training methods are divided into three parts: self-defense training, mental training, and health training. The basis are the concepts that "spirit and body are not separable and that it is integral to "train both body and spirit".

Last year, Azerbaijan­i kempo fighters have claimed a clutch of five gold medals at the World Martial Arts Games in Batumi, Georgia.

The gold medals came from Togrul Ibrahimli (55kg), Javid Allahverdi­yev (61kg), Khayal Mammadzade (75kg), Ulvi Sadigzade (80kg) and Orkhan Alizade.

Moreover, Azerbaijan­i kempo fighters won three medals at the European Championsh­ips in Budapest, Hungary.

Parviz Pashayev grabbed the bronze, while Khayal Mammadzade and Ilham Aghaverdiy­ev scooped the silver medals of the tournament.
