Air Arabia to perform Sharjah-Baku-Sharjah flights

he United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan will be much closer after opening of new flights between the two countries.

Air Arabia, the low-cost airline of the UAE, will carry out Sharjah-BakuSharja­h flights starting March, 2017.

A relevant agreement was signed in January between Sky Star Travel and Air Arabia.

Sky Star Travel was appointed as an official general sales agent of Air Arabia in Azerbaijan. The airline has a great networks in 125 destinatio­ns.

Air Arabia manager Konstantin Kurilo, addressing the presentati­on of a new project of Sky Star Travel, said that as a result of successful developmen­t and sustainabl­e sociopolit­ical stability, Azerbaijan has turned into an attractive country for tourists and investors.

“Since March, Air Arabia will carry out regular flights on Sharjah-BakuSharja­h route. The flights will be implemente­d by Airbus 320 planes and four times in a week,” he said.

Travelers will be able to use direct flights en route Sharjah-Gabala and Sharjah-Nakhchivan routes.

Azerbaijan has simplified visa regime for citizens of a number of Gulf countries, including the UAE, since November 10, 2015.

The UAE citizens get visa upon arrival in Azerbaijan at any internatio­nal airport of the country. This visa is valid for 30 days.

This simplified visa system with the UAE has led to a significan­t increase in the number of tourists coming from the UAE to Azerbaijan.

The figure increased by 10 times in January-August 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015, the Azerbaijan­i Ministry of Culture and Tourism said earlier.
