“Hscreenedoly cow" film by Azerbaijani director was at Cinema Querfeld Interkulturelles Kino in Basel, Switzerland. The film was shown with subtitles in German language and aroused great interest among the guests of the evening, Trend Life reported. Addressing the event, Chairman of the Public Association "Friends of Azerbaijan" (representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora living in Switzerland) Arzu Aliyeva and film's director Imam Hasanov, answered numerous questions and informed the participants about Azerbaijan's art and culture.

“Holy cow” is a story of a man who tries to find the right balance between modernity and traditional lifestyle.

Tapdig is a farmer who lives with his family in Lahij village. Someone tells him about a unique cow that could help his family improve the financial well being. Tapdig is instantly afire with enthusiasm for this new breed of cow. He is planning to call her Madonna. But the idea is received with deep incredulity by the elderly of the village and the rest of the population. Even his wife Vafa doesn't want to take care of the strange creature.

The movie uses a cow as a metaphor to speak about local mentality and moral codes that prevail in Azerbaijani countryside. It is an attempt to show how people in rural areas react and adapt to changes.

"When I chose movie's title, I thought it would be better to call it "European cow from Mexico" or "Mexican Holy cow" - something like that. Then I decided that it's too long and called the film "Holy cow". It's symbolic. It's a metaphor. A metaphor of beauty, wealth, innovation, even the women's appearance. All this is in my understanding creates a sense that she's a Saint", said Hasanov.

The film's director and script writer is Imam Hasanov, operatordirector - Sarvar Javadov, producers - Andrea Popescu, Stefan Klus.

“Holy cow” was screened in numerous international Festivals including IDFA „First Appearance Competition", Amsterdam, Hot Docs – "World Showcase", Toronto and One World, Prague etc.
