National gymnasts win medals in Budapest
Azerbaijani athletes won a number of medals at the competition in artistic gymnastics in Hungary - the Budapest Cup.
The Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation announced that the country’s medal hopes were pinned on 12 athletes.
Sarvar Aliyev took the second place in the all-around in the age category of 17-18, losing only to an opponent from Hungary. He also successfully performed in the finals of exercises on various shells. So, in exercises on rings he won the bronze, and on parallel bars - a silver medal.
Javidan Babayev, showed the best result in exercises on rings and supporting jump, taking the fourth place in both finals.
Sergei Onbysh, Agamurad Gahramanov and Samad Mammadli represented the country at age cat- egory of 15-16.
Onbysh won the silver in the all- around. In the finals of free exercises Agamurad and Sergei took the first and second place, respectively. In ex- ercises on parallel bars, Sergei won a silver medal, and bronze in exercises on the crossbar.
The youngest Azerbaijani gymnast performing at the competitions was Mansum Safarov. In the age category of 13-14, having shown the best result in floor exercises, he took the fifth place.
