A num­ber of newly-built and re­paired schools have opened in the coun­try for the new aca­demic year. Pres­i­dent Il­ham Aliyev vis­ited sev­eral sec­ondary schools in Baku af­ter a ma­jor over­haul.

The pres­i­dent viewed con­di­tions in the sec­ondary school No 74 in Bakikhanov, Sabunchu district, Baku, af­ter a ma­jor over­haul on Septem­ber 4.

Head of Baku City Ex­ec­u­tive Au­thor­ity Ha­jibala Abu­tal­i­bov in­formed the head of state of the re­con­struc­tion work.

The ter­ri­tory of the 912-seat school oc­cu­pies a to­tal area of 11,000 square me­ters. Re­con­struc­tion of the school saw the in­stal­la­tion of video surveillance, fire alarm and in­ter­net sys­tems. All class­rooms and lab­o­ra­to­ries fea­ture fur­ni­ture and nec­es­sary equip­ment. The school now also has a foot­ball pitch. Ex­ten­sive land­scap­ing was done in the ter­ri­tory of the school.

Next day, Il­ham Aliyev viewed con­di­tions cre­ated at school-lyceum No 62 named af­ter Khalid Guliyev in Nizami district.

Abu­tal­i­bov in­formed the head of state of the re­con­struc­tion work.

The ter­ri­tory of the 984-seat school oc­cu­pies a to­tal area of 11,000 square me­tres. The school-lyceum was supplied with all the nec­es­sary equip­ment. The re­con­struc­tion work was also done in foot­ball, vol­ley­ball and basketball grounds. Ex­ten­sive land­scap­ing work was im­ple­mented, and the light­ning sys­tem was in­stalled in the yard of the school.

The head of state also viewed the Healthy Ed­u­ca­tion classes which were cre­ated in the school­lyceum.

The Healthy Ed­u­ca­tion Healthy Na­tion project aims to pro­tect stu­dents' health in schools and to im­prove their ed­u­ca­tional achieve­ments.

Pres­i­dent Aliyev also viewed con­di­tions cre­ated at the sec­ondary school No 10 in Nizami district, Baku, af­ter a ma­jor over­haul.

The build­ing of the school for 1,176 stu­dents was con­structed in 1979. The school fea­tures 49 class­rooms, two com­puter rooms, three lab­o­ra­to­ries, a gym and con­fer­ence hall, mil­i­tary room and can­teen.

The schools un­der­went a ma­jor over­haul un­der the "State Pro­gram for so­cio-eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment of Baku and its sub­urbs", which was ap­proved by the Pres­i­dent of Azer­bai­jan.
