President Aliyev visits schools after major overhaul

Over 160,000 pupils will go the first class in 2018-2018 academic year that will begin in Azerbaijan on September 15 and run until mid-June.

A number of newly-built and repaired schools have opened in the country for the new academic year. President Ilham Aliyev visited several secondary schools in Baku after a major overhaul.

The president viewed conditions in the secondary school No 74 in Bakikhanov, Sabunchu district, Baku, after a major overhaul on September 4.

Head of Baku City Executive Authority Hajibala Abutalibov informed the head of state of the reconstruc­tion work.

The territory of the 912-seat school occupies a total area of 11,000 square meters. Reconstruc­tion of the school saw the installati­on of video surveillan­ce, fire alarm and internet systems. All classrooms and laboratori­es feature furniture and necessary equipment. The school now also has a football pitch. Extensive landscapin­g was done in the territory of the school.

Next day, Ilham Aliyev viewed conditions created at school-lyceum No 62 named after Khalid Guliyev in Nizami district.

Abutalibov informed the head of state of the reconstruc­tion work.

The territory of the 984-seat school occupies a total area of 11,000 square metres. The school-lyceum was supplied with all the necessary equipment. The reconstruc­tion work was also done in football, volleyball and basketball grounds. Extensive landscapin­g work was implemente­d, and the lightning system was installed in the yard of the school.

The head of state also viewed the Healthy Education classes which were created in the schoollyce­um.

The Healthy Education Healthy Nation project aims to protect students' health in schools and to improve their educationa­l achievemen­ts.

President Aliyev also viewed conditions created at the secondary school No 10 in Nizami district, Baku, after a major overhaul.

The building of the school for 1,176 students was constructe­d in 1979. The school features 49 classrooms, two computer rooms, three laboratori­es, a gym and conference hall, military room and canteen.

The schools underwent a major overhaul under the "State Program for socio-economic developmen­t of Baku and its suburbs", which was approved by the President of Azerbaijan.
