Armenian provocation kills Azerbaijani soldier

- By Rashid Shirinov

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces has suffered a loss as a result of an Armenian provocation on the frontline on October 22.

A soldier of Azerbaijan's army Zeynalov Jabbar was killed in the ceasefire violation by the Armenian militaries, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported. On the same day, Armenia’s armed forces 132 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.

The Ministry stressed that the criminal-military and political leadership of Armenia bears the full responsibility for the enemy’s provocations on the frontline.

The murder of soldier Zeynalov took place following the Geneva meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents, which once again proved the true essence of Armenian leadership.

The Armenian side commits constant ceasefire violations and provocations on the frontline using mortars of various caliber, sniper rifles and large-caliber machine guns. Moreover, Armenian units regularly try to carry out acts of sabotage on the contact line between the troops and by this aggravate the situation.

Despite the calls of Azerbaijani side, as well as the international community to follow the armistice, Armenia continues its destructive actions hereby showing its disrespect to the peace process over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Azerbaijani Ministry reminded that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, using military equipment and weaponry available in their arsenal, are ready to protect the country and show the power, pointing to the events of last April.

Back then, the situation on the frontline aggravated after the Armenian military units in the occupied lands began shelling Azerbaijan’s positions. To protect civilian population, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched counter attacks and as a result, the Azerbaijani troops retook hills around the village of Talish, as well as Seysulan settlement, and also took over Lele Tepe hill located in the direction of Fuzuli region.

During the four-day clashes on April 2-5, over 320 Armenian servicemen were killed, more than 500 were injured, 30 enemy tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as more than 25 artillery pieces were destroyed during the counter attacks of Azerbaijan, while Armenian side still hides the real figures saying that only 80 soldiers died.

Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the NagornoKarabakh and surrounding districts.
