Different faces in one exhibition
An unusual photo exhibition ‘Faces’ will open in Baku’s Art Gallery on December 14. The exhibition will feature photo portraits made in Azerbaijan by local and foreign photographers in recent years, Trend Life reported. The event is curated by Azerbaijani writer and photographer Rustam Huseynov.
The origins of the portrait in photography lie in the visual arts, where the most important condition for portraiture is not only the outwardly individual resemblance of the image to the portrait, but also a profound, truthful disclosure of the spiritual world and the character of a particular person as an individual.
Most people want to always decorate their appearance in the photo with a fake smile, unnatural for their usual state of poses or movements. In such photos people are like frozen actors in masks.
But real people and emotions are always interesting. If the appearance of a person changes over time, the inner world is almost gone, and it is always possible to recognize the original personality. Very often photographers, in order to exaggerate the efficiency of their portrait photos, move on to intricate lighting schemes, overload the photo with complex technical solutions, forgetting that emotions, and mood that`s what attracts us in portrait photography.
The event is organized by the Office of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher", Arts Council Azerbaijan and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Admission is free. The exhibition opens at 19:00.
