Na­tional gym­nasts win bronze in Rus­sia

Azer­bai­jani gym­nasts have claimed a clutch of two bronze medals at the 24th Mikhail Voronin Cup in Mos­cow, Rus­sia.

Na­tional ath­letes Ma­rina Nekrasova and Yu­lia İn­shina scored 95,950 points.

The first place was taken by Rus­sian gym­nasts Alek­san­dra Shekold­ina and An­gelina Mel­nikova (108.45 points). Sil­ver medals went to Uzbek ath­letes Dil­dora Aripova and Anas­tasiya Mirosh­nichenko (100,425 points).

About 200 ath­letes com­peted in the tour­na­ment in­clud­ing win­ners and medal­lists of the Olympic Games, World and Euro­pean cham­pi­onships.

The tour­na­ment is at­tended by par­tic­i­pants from 26 coun­tries, in­clud­ing Azer­bai­jan, Be­larus, Ge­or­gia, Kaza­khstan, Kyr­gyzs­tan, Uzbek­istan, Ja­pan, Is­rael, the U.S., Ger­many, Switzer­land and other coun­tries.

Born in Voronezh, Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion, Ma­rina Nekrasova be­gan com­pet­ing for Azer­bai­jan in 2013. She rep­re­sented the coun­try at the 2014 World Artis­tic Gym­nas­tics Cham­pi­onships and the 2015 Euro­pean Games.

Orig­i­nally a com­peti­tor for Rus­sia, Yu­lia In­shina be­gan to rep­re­sent Azer­bai­jan in Novem­ber 2013.

Her first com­pe­ti­tions rep­re­sent­ing Azer­bai­jan were the Cot­tbus and Ljubl­jana World Cups in 2014. She also com­peted at the In­ter­na­tional Bospho­rus Tour­na­ment, win­ning sil­ver on floor, and bronze in the all-around and on beam in the same year.

In 2017, In­shina started off the sea­son at the Baku World Cup, where she placed sixth on the un­even bars.
