Power supply system adjusted to growing Baku
President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the administrative building of the Baku distribution network of Azerishig OJSC in Khatai district of Baku, substations #220 and #120, “Yasamal 1” substation with a capacity of 110 kW, and “Gobu” substation with a capacity 110 kW.
The President viewed the administrative building and substations.
The operating period of the substations #220 built in 1954 has expired, was completely out of date.
In connection with infrastructure projects implemented in Baku with the aim to ensure the sustainable power supply of social facilities at the site of a number of substations, including substation #220, there was built a new closed substation equipped with modern equipment. A new substation, supplying a significant part of the Khatai, Nasimi, Narimanov and Sabail districts of the capital, including many strategic facilities, has been thoroughly expanded.
Then President Aliyev was informed about the newly reconstructed 110/35/10-kilovolt substation Yasamal-1 of the Baku District Electricity Supply and Sale Department. The substation Yasamal-1 is one of the first 110kilovolt substations constructed in the capital.
Then the head of the state was informed about 35/10/6-kilovolt substation #120 and 110/35/10kilovolt substation Gobu, recently built on the territory of Gobu settlement.
The substation was rebuilt due to the difficulties with the substation #120 put into operation in 1949 in the Yasamal district. To provide electricity supply to numerous multi-storey residential buildings, educational, medical, social, household facilities in the district, there was a need for reconstruction and reinforcement of the substation. Therefore, the power of the rebuilt substation number 120 was doubled.
The need for the construction of this substation was dictated by the rapid growth of residential area in recent years, including the provision of sustainable electricity for a significant part of the nearby towns.
