Country’s anti-doping law among top 10 in world

The anti-doping law prepared by the parliament­ary committee of youth and sports is included in the top ten laws of the world in this field, according to Fuad Muradov, chairman of the parliament­ary committee.

The head of the committee also said that during the autumn session of 2017, the committee received 124 appeals from citizens, administra­tions and organizati­ons.

“29 of them found their solution, 29 resolved partially, 20 were deemed unfounded, nine were clarified, 35 were redirected to the relevant organizati­ons for considerat­ion, two appeals are in production,” he said.

Muradov also made remarks about the upcoming plans.

He said that during the spring session of the Parliament, amendments and additions will be made to the laws "On Youth Policy," "On Physical Culture and Sport," the preparatio­n and discussion with the Ministry of Health of a new bill "On Reproducti­ve Health," and in accordance with the State Program "Azerbaijan­i Youth in 2017-2021" analysis of the provisions of normative legal acts related to youth and preparatio­n of proposals for their improvemen­t.

During the year 2017, some 471 doping tests have been conducted in Azerbaijan within the National Anti-Doping Program, with two positive doping tests in handball and athletics, three positive doping tests - in cycling and bodybuildi­ng and one positive doping test - in weightlift­ing.

Azerbaijan­i President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the applicatio­n of the law "On combating the use of doping in sports" on November 29, 2016.
