Spokesman: Armenian FM’s statement is nothing else than hypocrisy, false emotions
The statement by the Armenian Foreign Minister is nothing but hypocrisy and false emotions. Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev said on January 29. “We do not see the need to comment on the duplicate statements of the Armenian Foreign Minister,” the spokesman added.
“Those who understand the deep essence of the issues know that the words of Armenian Foreign Minister are absolutely far from reality,” Hajiyev said.
Armenia's Edward Nalbandian, during his last press conference in Yerevan, attempted to mislead the audience saying as though Azerbaijan was opposing the increase in the number of field assistants of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Personal Representative Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Hajiyev noted that it is difficult to understand whom the Armenian FM is trying to deceive – the international community or the Armenian people.
“The increase in the number of field assistants of the OSCE chairperson-in-office personal representative is an auxiliary tool that depends on substantive and logical negotiations,” the spokesman said.
During the last meeting of the Azerbaijani, Armenian FMs and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in Krakow, the foreign ministers agreed in principle to the co-chairs’ revised concept paper for implementing the expansion of Kasprzyk’s Office with a view toward finalizing it as soon as possible.
Hajiyev noted that observing the speeches like the one of Armenian Foreign Minister, it is easy to understand why Armenia is in the conditions of political, economic and demographic crisis.
“The Armenian people must see who is in the leadership of the country and draw conclusions from this,” the spokesman concluded.
Armenia broke out a lengthy war against Azerbaijan by laying territorial claims on the country. Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.
To this day, Armenia has not implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding regions.
