Baku opens direct flights to Geneva

AZAL President Jahangir Asgarov met with Ambassador of the Swiss Confederat­ion to Azerbaijan, Philipp Stalder to discuss forthcomin­g launch of direct flights between Baku and Geneva scheduled to start on September 30, 2018.

During the meeting, the sides spoke of issues related to the new Baku-Geneva-Baku flights, recalled that both sides already discussed the idea of establishi­ng direct flights at their first encounter back in 2016

Jahangir Asgarov said that the flights to Geneva will be carried out twice a week - on Tuesdays and Fridays with Airbus A319 aircraft with improved comfort seats in three service classes - VIP Club, Business Class and Economy Class.

In his turn, Philipp Stalder thanked AZAL President for opening the flights to this destinatio­n and expressed willingnes­s to provide any related support to the Azerbaijan Airlines in promoting this flight through its own channels and offered a meeting between officials from Switzerlan­d’s tourism promotion agency ‘Tourism Switzerlan­d’ and officials from Azerbaijan.

The parties agreed to make joint efforts to attract passengers to this flight and increase the tourist flow, as well as came to a decision to continue negotiatio­ns on this issue by involving officials from both countries’ tourism department­s.

Geneva is a perfect location in the heart of Europe for tourism, business and internatio­nal conference­s. The city of Geneva is gifted with beautiful architectu­re & nature and offers besides lakes and mountains modern comfort availabili­ties for tourists. Geneva also has a reputation as a finance and technology hub. Finally, the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is the second-largest of the four major office sites of United Nations.
