Armenia stages next provocation in occupied Kalbajar
Occupied Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan, which is under the control of Armenia, continues to constitute a fertile field for illegal activities. As is known, any economic activity in the occupied Azerbaijani lands is prohibited by international law. However, Armenia continues to refuse to respect international law.
OEarlier, the Armenian media reported about creation of the Sydney settlement in the occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan, as well as the construction of a new road connecting the occupied Azerbaijani region along the Araz River with Armenia.
Commenting on this situation, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said thatArmenia’s continuing illegal activity in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, contrary to the spirit of the negotiation process and discussions at the CIS summit in Dushanbe, is detrimental to international efforts to resolve the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
This once again demonstrates that the words of Armenia contradict its actions - the non-constructive position of that country and lack of interest in the conflict settlement through negotiations, the ministry said.
"The change of demographic situation by Armenia in the occupied Azerbaijani territories and other similar actions are a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. The issue of illegal actions in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is constantly raised at international organizations," the minitry noted.
The occupant Armenia pays special attention to the illegal settlement of Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadli and Zangilan districts. This is evidenced by the information disseminated by the separatist regime in Khankendi.
Representatives of the ARI (Artsax Ruts Investment) investment organization, operating in Lebanon, met with Grigory Martirosyan, the so-called "government minister" of the separatist regime.
Armenian businessmen, mainly from abroad, construct new houses in Akavno settlement, which is located in the territory of Zabux village of Azerbaijan's Lachin district. More than 50 houses have been built there since 2014 and negotiations on construction of 20 more houses are underway in several months. In addition, documents were submitted to the separatist officials on construction of 50 houses near Kalbajar city center. It was proposed to put Sidney in the name of building a new town with the support of Australian-based Armenians. During the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent years such demographic development took place in the "Shaumyan" (part of Kalbajar and Agdere regions ofAzerbaijan) and "Kashatag" (part of Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan and Jabrayil regions of Azerbaijan).
Occupiers' goals include demographic growth and resettlement. To date, about 5,000 people have used the ARI investment.
