29LT’S Fonts Featured in Typography Publications
Beirut-based design studio, 29Letters [29LT], which specialises in contemporary Arabic and multilingual typography, has seen some of the unique multilingual Arabic/latin typefaces it publishes, which are created by emerging talented Arab and Western type designers, featured in three renowned international publications on type.
The first work titled, 'The 365typo' annual book, which is published in collaboration with Association Typographique Internationale (ATYPI), features 365 stories by the best writers in the field of typography, visual communication, type and graphic design from all over the world, from Tokyo to San Francisco including Lebanon with the Zeyn font included in this year’s edition.
The second book, 'Yearbook of Type II' presents individual fonts or font families from large publishing houses to small independent typographers and foundries providing both visual impressions as well as background and detailed information about the finishing. The Zeyn font also managed to be listed in this second work alongside another called Kaff.
Last but not least, is 'Typodarium 2015', a tare-off calendar, which is similar in design to the one our grandma used to hang in the kitchen. It contains 365 different fonts by 223 designers from 31 countries with a fresh font for every day including extra information on the back of each type. In this particular compilation five fonts by design studio 29LT were included (Azer, Baseet, Bukra, Kaff, and Zeyn).
We can't but congratulate Arabic type designer and typographer, Pascal Zoghbi, founder of 29 Letters for his unrelenting effort in promoting Arabic types the world over, whether through his teachings or by marketing the unique types the studio creates.
