seemore – an augmented reality car app by Volkswagen has been revealed at the Dubai International Motor Show. The app, utilising intuitive technology, is capable of ‘recognising’ Volkswagen models and provide users with interactive digital content using augmented and virtual reality. Using a smartphone camera, the app can scan images from mediums including catalogues, billboards and real-life Volkswagen cars on the street or in a showroom. The app’s in-built sound recognition functionality can also recognise sounds on the radio, television advertisements and provide the user with additional information and 3D images to explore a Volkswagen model. Users of the app are able to change and explore a car’s exterior – including its colours and wheels – and survey the interior features of the model with a 360 view, allowing them to gather more information instantly and interactively.
