A New Advertising Festival is Born
The Lisbon International Advertising Festival is based in Lisbon and its ambition is to become one of the major advertising annual festivals worldwide. This is a one-day festival that aims to reward the best work in the creativity and communication areas on an international scale. LIAF has the support of the Lisbon City Council, which is its Main Sponsor. The LIAF’S website (www.lisbonadfestival.com) was also recently launched, and it is already possible for agencies to enter their best work. Entries are open until 29 July. One of the festival's special features is that it has two groups of judges. There is a Grand Jury who will vote online and who will be responsible for choosing the shortlists in each category, and an Executive Jury, who will meet in person in Lisbon in order to make the final selection of the big winners. Brazilian creative was named President of the Executive Jury. Olivetto, who is the Chairman of the Brazilian agency W/mccann and the Chief Creative Officer of Mccann Worldgroup for Latin America and the Caribbean, will also receive the festival’s first Career Award. Having won over 50 Lions in Cannes, only in the Film category, in 2014 he was honoured with the Clio Lifetime Achievement Award, and last year he was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" of "The One Club", in New York – he was the first non-anglo-saxon to achieve it. LIAF intends to be, as of now, "the most local of all global festivals", since, in addition to the regular prizes given by category; there are also Local LIAFS, which will award prizes to the best entries in each region in each category. The festival will last for only one day, and will take place on 14 September in Lisbon.
