Af­ter tak­ing the In­ter­net by storm in the last months of 2016 and spark­ing sig­nif­i­cant out­rage among Twit­ter users fol­low­ing his elec­tion, the Inau­gu­ra­tion of 45th US Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, mark­ing the ini­ti­a­tion of his four-year term as Pres­i­dent and Mike Pence’s as Vice Pres­i­dent, was a ma­jor Jan­uary high­light on so­cial me­dia. Held on Jan­uary 20 on the West Front of the Capi­tol Build­ing in Wash­ing­ton, D.C, the cer­e­mony brought to­gether a to­tal of 160,000 peo­ple and had the In­ter­net talk­ing for days, from end­less jokes, memes and spec­u­la­tions made around Trump and First Lady Me­la­nia while also fea­tur­ing former Pres­i­dent Barack Obama and his wife Michelle to a widely cir­cu­lated pic­ture show­cas­ing the re­mark­able crowd-size dis­crep­ancy be­tween Trump’s Inau­gu­ra­tion and Obama’s lat­est inau­gu­ra­tion.
