The much-anticipated West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) 2017 Championship kicked off on the last weekend of January, with six national teams from the region (Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Iran) competing for gold in host country Jordan’s Club Fuheis. Corresponding hashtag #WABA2017 soared to the top seconds after the first match opposing Iraq and Lebanon kicked off on Sunday afternoon, ending with a massive 46-86 win for the latter. With top contender Lebanon revamping its forces with new coach Joe Moujaes and returning legend Fadi el Khatib and 2016 title-holder Iran ready to defend its title, the tournament promises to bring excitement and anticipation for all basketball lovers in the region.
