Unknown Pleasures - Visual stimulation
Probably one of the most minimal record covers ever. A stunning example of non-branding, not even bothering to mention the band name and album title. “A funny combination of shyness and arrogance,” Saville remembers. “It’s not cool to put the name on the front. That’s like … trying a bit hard, isn’t it?” Instead, the cover features a radio frequency of a pulsar, taken from an astronomy encyclopedia. Saville later created threedimensional re-interpretations, yet nothing beats the Big Bang of this linear image.
