Probably one of the most minimal record covers ever. A stunning example of non-branding, not even bothering to mention the band name and album title. “A funny combinatio­n of shyness and arrogance,” Saville remembers. “It’s not cool to put the name on the front. That’s like … trying a bit hard, isn’t it?” Instead, the cover features a radio frequency of a pulsar, taken from an astronomy encycloped­ia. Saville later created threedimen­sional re-interpreta­tions, yet nothing beats the Big Bang of this linear image.
