It’s hard to believe that this was actually produced in 1978. You’d expect this kind of design for a building site, not a trendy dance club. The vibrating head creates visual sound waves while screaming colours convey a sense of danger. The Hacienda later became a beacon of rave culture and a symbol - to quote Peter Hook’s memoir - of ‘How not to run a club.’ Financial headaches eventually killed the club, but the black and yellow warning stripes still live as a signature motive to sell Hacienda merch.
