> HMMM! OOPS! AY!
Kuwait’s STC (formally VIVA) rolled out in mid December their new brand identity with a logo that astonished many in the design and advertising communities for its similarities with another logo for US tech company called CTS. The only difference is the font use where STC wears thicker letters with steeper terminal angles than CTS’. What is mostly striking though is the letter T dressed with those little squares on top.
And since the reveal, it is getting bad press on social media.
The renowned blog that deals with everything branding-related, Under Consideration, has pointed out that this could be a case of “nothing more than coincidence”. Even though some think that it may be a simple coincidence to have such a blatant copy of another logo, this simply means the design agency hasn’t done its work properly. Yet, the branding firm behind the development of this logo is no other than Interbrand, Madrid, which begs the question: how could such a well-reputed company and of that stature fall for an identity that wasn’t researched and worked on properly?
