Man caged for kissing woman’s hand

DUBAI: A man, who kissed the back of a woman’s hand when she shook hands with him, was on Tuesday imprisoned for three months to be followed by deportatio­n.

The Asian man -a computer operator, 26- met the South African woman –an employee, 24- inside the lift of a commercial tower in Bur Dubai at around 5.40pm on Sept.5, the Dubai Criminal Court learnt.

On Oct.22, prosecutor­s accused him of breaching her modesty by kissing her hand and trying to hug her against her consent. He denied the charges. The court imprisoned him for three months and ordered his deportatio­n.

The woman told prosecutor­s she met the man in the lift as she was HEADING to HER OFICE on THE 19th loor. “It was THE irst time I was meeting him…i stood in a corner… He asked me about my nationalit­y and told me his.

“He greeted me…i refused to give him my mobile number…we stood quietly…when the lift opened At THE 15th loor HE DID not GET out. He approached me and held out his hand to shake mine.

“I accepted. He instead lifted my hand and kissed its back. I quickly pulled it away. I was astonished. It was unacceptab­le especially since I did not know him and I had no connection with him,” she complained.

Neverthele­ss, he approached her again and placed his hands behind her shoulders. He reportedly wanted to hug her but she pushed his chest and forced him out of the lift. She went to HER OFICE AND CONTACTED THE police.
