Get Dhs700 diabetes screening package for Dh1
RAS AL KHAIMAH: On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the RAK Hospital and Dubai RAK Diabetes Centre launched a month-long campaign with a focus on healthy, active lifestyle for diabetics and non-diabetics.
As part of the campaign, the hospital also offers a diabetes health screening voucher worth Dhs700 for just Dhs1, which can be availed either at the hospital in Ras Al Khaimah or at the diabetes centre in Dubai
The campaign, which will run till Dec.14, kick started with the ‘Blue Ring Challenge’ inviting UAE residents to free blood sugar screening (RBS) at both premises to ind for themselves the positive effect of physical exercise on sugar levels. Blue Ring Challenge will practically demonstrate how regular exercise can help reduce sugar levels by testing the levels before and after some physical activity.
The campaign was launched at RAK Hospital offering blood sugar screening to all the employees of Arabian Healthcare Group and taxi drivers of Ras Al Khaimah. It was also extended to Dubai Police on Tuesday at Mamzar Park, Dubai. It will offer free blood sugar screening to residents and corporates on Wednesday at Dubai RAK Diabetes Centre, and to corporates in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday.
Dr Yasmin Shaikh, Group Marketing Head, Arabian Healthcare Group and RAK Hospital, said that the UAE residents can also register for the ‘Blue Ring Challenge’ online and get a diabetes health screening voucher worth Dhs700 for just Dh1.
“As a CSR activity, we will also add Dh1 for each registration – irrespective of whether people avail the screening or not – and the entire amount will go towards creating programmes and awareness campaigns against diabetes,” she added.
The Blue Ring Challenge shows impact of exercise on blood sugar level. Visitors can get their blood sugar tested before and after a 20 minutes exercise regime to notice the impact.
Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO, Arabian Healthcare Group and Executive Director RAK Hospital, said that they wanted to encourage people to take stock of their health.
This is why they have kept the Blue Ring Challenge open for diabetics and non-diabetics.
“We are also approaching corporate houses to perform the Blue Ring Challenge on their premises since corporates generally lead a very sedentary lifestyle. Let us promise this year to literally put our best foot forward and exercise to keep diabetes under control,” he said.
Earlier during the year, the Arabian Healthcare Group had launched the “My Employee First” programme that focused on encouraging corporate employees to adopt an active lifestyle.
