SHARJAH: The Sharjah Girl Guides (SGG) is launching a “Neighbour to Neighbour” initiative on Nov 18 to bring members of the community closer together and strengthen bonds with the friends and neighbours they already know and those which they have yet to meet.

Organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department, the event, taking place at the SGG headquarters, aims to revitalise strong communication between neighbours and families, as well as highlight SGG’S community initiatives and annual events.

It will see an introductory meeting for families and feature an array of events such as competitions and discussion panels.

Shaikha Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Manager of SGG, said: “The Emirati community is characterised by its solidarity, unity and spirit of togetherness, values which must continue to be part of the nation’s social fabric. Launching this initiative is in perfect keeping with that, along with SGG’S achievements and ambitions.”

She added: “Through ‘Neighbour to Neighbour’, SGG will promote the activities it organises throughout the year for its members and encourage guiding principles and practice to respect and help others as well as demonstrate their self-conidence.”

Al Shamsi called on all members of the community to participant in the event, which will include an open day for families who can participate through a series of discussion panels and interactive events which highlight the importance of cooperation and help foster those values in children and young adults.
