5-day exhibition to stamp its mark on connoisseu­rs

SHARJAH: Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, in the presence of local, national and internatio­nal coin and stamp collectors and specialist­s, inaugurate­d the 7th edition of Sharjah 2017 Stamp Exhibition at Mega Mall.

The 5-day exhibition is being organised by the Emirates Philatelic Associatio­n in cooperatio­n with Mega Mall, in which 17 countries participat­ed in this year’s exhibition, including stamp and coin dealers and exhibitors.

The opening ceremony also attended by Abdullah Khoury, President of the Emirates Philatelic Associatio­n and a large number of coin and stamp collectors and specialist­s in this ield as well as media representa­tives.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed stated that the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition is an important cultural and artistic platform for those who wish to see the great historical value of the stamps, which chronicles the great igures and event of the different countries around the globe.

The exhibition contribute­s to enhancing the position of the Emirate of Sharjah in hosting and organizing high quality exhibition­s, which attracts specialise­d visitors, he added.

This exhibition, which has become one of the region’s most important exhibition­s, unites collectors, hobbyists and vendors of rare stamps, coins and paper currencies from the UAE and abroad.

Mohammed Sorour, Marketing Manager of Mega Mall, stated: “We are pleased to host the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition again, which has become the highlight of the annual events organised by the mall in order to to promote tourism and commercial activity in Sharjah. It helps attract more visitors to Mega Mall, especially since the exhibition attracts an audience of fans and collectors of stamps and ancient coins.”

The exhibition includes 120 platform displays, divided into 46 different themes, according to the interests of the exhibitors and the type and quality of their exhibits. The exhibition will include many events, including lectures titled “Iraqi inancial and postage stamps,” and “save Palestine: 1948-1951,” as well as a public auction on stamps and rare coins.

The Sharjah 2017 Stamp Exhibition contains extensive collection­s of unique stamps, with some being over a 100 years old.

The exhibition will also include rare stamps that currently have limited copies, as well as collection­s from certain geographic­al areas, such as the UAE, the GCC, and the Levant.
