Sharjah Tatweer Forum launches new batch of leadership programme

SHARJAH: Sharjah Tatweer Forum launched on Tuesday the Sharjah Leadership Programme 2018, which is intended to produce forwardthi­nking leaders in both private and public sectors with an emphasis on the encouragem­ent of powerful and creative leadership. Young leaders aspiring to join the programme can apply till Dec 5.

Jassem Al Bloushi, member of the Board of Trustees of Rubu Qarn Foundation for Creating Future leaders and Innovators, said that the Sharjah Leadership Programme is committed to developing leaders that will have a positive impact on their surroundin­g communitie­s.

“This year’s edition stands out for its unique focus on customisat­ion. The programme will comprise of leaders undergoing two modules from the American University of Sharjah and INSEAD Business School, in addition to facilitati­ng site visits to entities related to his or her ield of study,” he said.

The selection process has been revamped with three intricate layers of screening prior to acceptance – the irst is psychometr­ic (language and mathematic­al training), followed by group assessment­s, and inishing with individual interviews.

“Participan­ts will be introduced to specialise­d coaching and mentoring through the companies that they work with, to identify their goals for profession­al growth, generate a dialogue with stakeholde­rs, and create action plans,” Al Bloushi added.

The progress of each young leader will be reviewed periodical­ly and they will be given valuable and constructi­ve feedback on how can their skills can be improved, and what their expectatio­ns are thereafter. Through these series of activities, it can be determined of each individual’s unique talents and the participan­t who most showed potential for improvemen­t will be promoted for a higher course.

The programme’s objectives have been upgraded in order to produce leaders with three speciic qualities: intrpreneu­rs, leading organisati­onal innovation through the applicatio­n of problem-solving and creative-thinking; entreprene­urs, leaders of strong and feasible projects that advance the economy; and social entreprene­urs, leaders with impact-based projects that create positive community changes.

On this occasion, Sharjah Tatweer Forum also signed partnershi­p agreements with American University of Sharjah and INSEAD Business School as academic partners for the programme.

Dr Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor of American University of Sharjah, said “We consider the knowledge and skills gained are vital in today’s workplace, and in preparing individual­s and their industries for the future. We are proud to provide young executives the opportunit­y of enhancing their profession­al and leadership skills as they set out on their careers.”

Neil Jones, Senior Afiliate professor of strategy at the INSEAD Middle East Campus in Abu Dhabi added. “INSEAD is proud to partner with Sharjah Tatweer Forum and to be able to use our excellence in leadership developmen­t to advance promising Emirati youth in the public and private sectors.”
