Marasi National Day Cycling Championsh­ip on Dec.1

The Emirates National School, Sharjah beat defending champions New Indian Model School 3-0 to qualify for the CBSE National Games which are scheduled to be held in New Delhi later this month.

Playing the final of U-19 boys category of the CBSE Cluster tournament, Emirates National School started well and after some close battles near the net, they closed the first set 25-18. The story line remained same in the second set as well which the winners took 25-17. The last one was a virtual cakewalk for Emirates National School, who romped to a 25-11 win in the third to win the match.

In the U19 girls category final, Delhi Private School Dubai beat Delhi Private School, Sharjah. In another match, Gulf Asian school Sharjah beat Our Own English school Dubai.

A total of 29 teams participat­ed from in the event which was event was conducted by Pace Internatio­nal School and organised by Gulf Asian school Sharjah. Students from across the UAE participat­ed in the competitio­n.

Laxmi Public School in New Delhi will host the Games. Mohammed Zamrud of Emirates National School was named as the player of the tournament. Mohammed Aseef, Director of the Pace group, gave away the trophies to the winners. DUBAI: In a bid to commemorat­e the UAE’S 46th National Day, Marasi National Day Cycling Championsh­ip will be held at the Marasi Business Bay on Dec.1

Hosted at Dubai’s newest waterfront destinatio­n – Marasi Business Bay – on Friday, Dec.1, the popular cycling event organized by the UAE Cycling Federation, in partnershi­p with Dubai Properties, is expected to be one of the largest public sporting events commemorat­ing the National Day festivitie­s. The registrati­on has already started for the race. Last date of receiving the entries is Nov.27.

The organizing committee of the race held a meeting on Tuesday in Dubai to review the preparatio­ns of the event.

Apart from its enviable location, the new venue comes with excellent transporta­tion links and easy access from RTA’S water, bus and metro stations. The oraganisin­g committee said: ”Hosting the race to mark the UAE National Day is incredibly valuable to us, and we look forward to welcoming the riders at the heart of buzzing Business Bay.”

Recently, the Marasi Business Bay hosted the seventh edition of the Huawei Beach Soccer Interconti­nental Cup.

The seventh edition of the event saw eight nations competed for the title. Brazil lifted their third Soccer Cup crown with a 2-0 win over Portugal.
