Four-day World Art Dubai brings top artists, art lovers under one roof

DUBAI: “Dubai is a unique place in the world of art as artists belonging to a wide spectrum of nationalit­ies present their artworks in every medium. In the last couple of years, we have seen tremendous growth in exhibition­s of artists around the world as well as a sharp increase in the sale of artworks.”

The remarks were made by Yasser Elfara, General Manager of the Art Plus Gallery, while talking to The Gulf Today on the sidelines of the four-day World Art Dubai, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Art Plus is showcasing over 100 artworks from 50 internatio­nal artists at the exhibition. Most of their partner artists are based in UAE, the region and around the globe, in a bid to address the demand of local and regional markets.

“The art loving community in the UAE is much more aware and selective of high quality artworks,” he said, and added that “the collectors and art lovers in Dubai and all over the UAE, beside different GCC countries, have a huge chance of buying their favourite artists’ works, which include paintings, among other medium.”

He pointed out that the artworks being showcased at the four-day exhibition comprise of all medium from oil colour to mix medium and many others to offer visitors a wide range of selections under one roof.

“We have more than 100 artists associated with Art Plus Gallery to produce artworks in every medium to cater the demands of multinatio­nal community in the country and beyond. We are also planning to take a group of artists and their works to showcase in different galleries around Europe in the next couple of months,” he mentioned.

Art Plus, for last two decades, has been serving as a inspiring platform for convention­al artists, digital artists, ine art photograph­ers, arts collectors and art lovers.

Responding to a question, he said that the UAE is a multinatio­nal community with profession­al artists hailing from all parts of the world and making the country a unique art loving community on the global scene.

“We have been participat­ing in the World Art Dubai for the last three years to promote a selection of artists out of hundreds. This alone is one of the great opportunit­y for UAE based artists to showcase their latest artworks along with artists around the world, “he added.

However, talking to The Gulf Today, a number of artists said that the World Art Dubai is a major event for them to meet art lovers from around the world and ind best buyers for their artworks.

“Besides promoting artworks in various galleries and other places, I have found this platform one of the best in terms promoting and bringing a wide spectrum of artists and people who really appreciate good artworks under one roof,” said AP Laitu, an Indian artist based in Sharjah.

Nazar Haidri, a Pakistani artist based in Dubai told “the varied art lovers from the UAE as well as those who lew from different corners of the world that the exhibition is one of the best opportunit­ies for artists like me to interact with them as well promote artworks.”
