Aarnav bags Junior Medal Championsh­ip

DUBAI: After a birdie on his opening hole, Aarnav Nath remained on one under par until his last hole where an unfortunat­e bogey brought him back to level par for the nine holes but he inished on a net 32.5 which was enough for him to be named Junior Medal Champion for the month of April.

The Gross Winner was Samuel De Souza who finished on 39 (+4).

The Boy’s winner was Daksh Jain who finished with 34 nett (-1). After his victory Daksh said: “This was my best round ever.”

Daksh beat last month’s winner Sandro Wulff by one stroke. Girl’s winner was Hannah Alan with a net 35.5 who defeated Ailsa Brannock by two strokes.

The winner in the UAE National category was Abdulla Kalbat.

The other two prizes, a Nearest to the Pin on the fifth hole and a beat to the Junior Captain on the eighth, were won by Rashid Al Jassmy and Sandro Wulf respective­ly.

After the Prize presentati­on was concluded, Dubai Creek’s Player Concierge, George Wearden commented: “Thank you all for your support and participat­ion in this month’s event, congratula­tions to all of today’s winners and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Creek very soon.”

Strong winds on Thursday led to scoring being tough but with the golf course at Dubai Creek being presented in superb condition some of junior’s took advantage and posted some excellent scores. The competitio­n was held over nine holes.

CORDANS POST WINS

Senan Cordan hit a three under par to finished on a net 36 to win the Junior Developmen­t Programme (JDP) in a nine-hole tournament whereas Hannah Afifi and Robert Armstrong received the most improved female and male junior awards respective­ly.

This year juniors have worked very hard on developing each aspect of their game to move up and to become a better player.

In the 10 - 17 years category Killian Cordan clinched the first place with 32 points. The new season will start in September.
