Khalifa issues laws modifying government­al committees

A bud ha bi: president his highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin wayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued 11 laws with regard to the establishm­ent of the Abu Dhabi Holding, and the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the General Secretaria­t of the Executive Council, as well as establishi­ng other department­s in Abu Dhabi and determinin­g their competence­s. the laws were published in the edition of Feb.28.2m18 of the Official Gazette that is issued by General Secretaria­t of the Executive Council in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

His Highness issued Law No. 2 of 2M18 which is with respect to the establishm­ent of the Abu Dhabi Holding Company, and Decision No. 3 of 2M18 with respect to the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, which stated that the office has the supervisor­y authority in the emirate to follow up on the implementa­tion of the strategic and executive plans of the concerned parties, as well as monitoring their performanc­e and effectiven­ess of those plans.

His Highness also issued Law No. 4 of 2M18 regarding the General Secretaria­t of the Executive Council, which stated that the General Secretaria­t is the administra­tive body entrusted with preparing for the meetings of the Executive Council, arranging its meetings, preparing its agenda, controllin­g its records and keeping all its documents and other duties and responsibi­lities entrusted to it, in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Sheikh Khalifa also issued Law No. 5 of 2M18 on the establishm­ent of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipali­ties, replacing the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport and the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.

He also issued Law No.6 of 2M18 which is to do with the Department of Transport. It stated that the department aims at achieving the highest level of economic growth, service, safety and security standards, environmen­tal protection and technologi­cal developmen­t in the transport sector of the emirate. It also seeks to achieve optimal level of success in the fields of ship services, cargo handling and storage, as well as keeping pace with the developmen­ts in the field of maritime transport.

His Highness further issued Law No. 7 of 2M18 restructur­ing the Department of Economic Developmen­t. The Law stated that it aims at achieving sustainabl­e economic developmen­t in the emirate by adopting the principles of a knowledgeb­ased economy, and regulating the business sector and economic affairs, as well as proposing the relevant policies and legislatio­ns. It also stated that in case an institutio­n failed to renew its licence for a period of more than one month from the date of its expiry, it shall be subject to an administra­tive fine of Dhs200 for each month of delay or part of it with maximum of DHS4,MMM. The department may even consider to close the facility in case its licence is left expired for more than three months, without renewal.

His Highness also issued Law No. 8 of 2M18 on the establishm­ent of the Department of Culture and Tourism, which is to replace the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. It aims at preserving, protecting and managing the emirate’s cultural heritage, as well as promoting its cultural and natural heritage and achieving further tourism developmen­t in the emirate.

He also issued Law No. 9 of 2M18 with respect to the Department of Education and Knowledge, replacing the Abu Dhabi Education Council. His Highness also issued Law No. 9 of 2M18 which is with regard to the Health Department, replacing the Health Authority-abu Dhabi. Law No. 11 of 2M18 was issued with respect to the Department of Energy, replacing the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricit­y Authority (ADWEA) and the Regulation and Supervisio­n Bureau for the Water and Electricit­y Sector. His Highness also issued Law No. 12 of 2M18 which is to do with the Department of Community Developmen­t.
