AJMAN: Warning motorists about the fatal accidents and consequences of sudden switching of lanes by feckless motorists, Ajman Police have launched a new campaign about the dangers of such deviations.

Lt Colonel Seif Abdallah Al Shamsi, Director of Traffic and Patrolling at Ajman Police, said that according to the federal traffic law, a fine of DHS1,MMM will be slapped on motorists for suddenly jumping from one lane to another, without giving any indication or signal, in addition to four black points.

He added that such careless lane deviation has often resulted in major accidents. Therefore the campaign comes as part of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Interior to ensure road safety.

He further said, “The campaign will continue for the coming three months with the aim of inculcating in motorists’ minds the importance of respecting traffic rules and adhering to the stipulated traffic lane. Motorists are urged to abide by the stipulated road lane and to ensure that the lane is spacious enough, before they decide to suddenly switch lanes. They are always urged to adhere to the stipulated speed limit and should not be using their mobile phones while driving as just one single-second distraction from the road can lead to fatal accidents that may claim the lives of many road users,” Lt Colonel Al Shamsi explained.
