Pick-up truck catches fire in Sharjah
SHARJAH: A fire broke out in a pick-up truck in Sharjah on Sunday evening. The pick up was parked near Matajer Al Khan.
Children playing in the area noticed the fire and informed the authorities. The Sharjah Police and Civil Defence teams immediately arrived at the site.
The Civil Defence team members took control of the fire. It was learnt that there was no one inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Eyewitnesses said people and cars parked near the fire site were moved to safety. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
Police have urged motorists to carry out safety checks in their vehicles to avoid such incidents.
In December, a car caught fire in the Al Khan area of Sharjah. The Sharjah Police and Civil Defence team members doused the blaze.
The Sharjah Police operation room received information about a fire incident in Al Khan. Police patrols and ambulances were dispatched to the site.
A witness said the car suddenly erupted in flames. The flames were brought under control.
Recently, a fire broke out on a yacht near Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
The Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) team members brought the blaze under control.
The DCD said on Twitter, “A fire on a yacht near Madinat Jumeirah was brought under control by Dubai Civil Defence. Three people were safely evacuated and no one was injured in the blaze that appears to have been caused by engine failure and fuel leakage.”
A team of experts was at the site to investigate the cause of the fire.
Recently, a massive fire erupted at a warehouse containing sponge and was successfully put out by the firefighting teams of Ajman Civil Defence General Headquarters.
Firefighting teams from two Civil Defence stations were called at around 7.27am to be informed about a fire that broke out in a warehouse of highly flammable sponge material, at Al Jurf
Industrial area 1, Ajman.
Lt. Col. Raed Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of Ajman Civil Defence, stated that firefighting teams immediately rushed to the scene, and the fire was successfully contained by 9:30am. However, efforts of the defence teams prevented any further damage being caused.
Furthermore, Al Zaabi, pointed out that the highly inflammable sponge caused a cloud of heavy smoke billowing into the sky, but the quick response of the team managed to save the situation, and the fire was contained with full professionalism.
