UAE expresses solidarity with virus-hit Iran

ABU DHABI: Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n, discussed the latest regional and global developmen­ts following the coronaviru­s outbreak with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Sheikh Abdullah offered, during a telephone call with Zarif, his condolence­s to the Iranian people due to the victims of the global pandemic, affirming the UAE’S support to the Iranian people as they come through this crisis.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of collective work and efforts to survive such global challenges.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health - Abu

Dhabi has adopted a part-time remote working system in a bid to ensure the health and safety of its employees and customers.

The department is using advanced technologi­cal systems to enable employees to complete their tasks while working remotely, as well as to enable them to participat­e in meetings and discussion­s with their teams and partners in the health sector.

The UAE’S Public Prosecutio­n has urged customers to use its smart services to protect the health of customers and employees, in line with the preventive measures taken by national authoritie­s and institutio­ns to prevent the spread of the coronaviru­s, COVID-19.

The judicial body noted in a statement that it has improved its smart services available on its website, as well as its smart applicatio­n, adding that customers do not need to go to customer happiness centres.

It went on to add that raising public awareness is the first line of defence to protect the UAE community.

The Ajman Department of Economic Developmen­t and Ajman Tourism Developmen­t Department have directed entertainm­ent destinatio­ns in the emirate to temporaril­y suspend operations until the end of the month, as part of the precaution­ary measures taken nationwide to curb the proliferat­ion of the coronaviru­s outbreak.

In a joint circular issued on Sunday, the two department­s said inspection campaigns will be carried out across movie theatres and videogame centres and lounges in the emirate to ensure compliance.

DISNEY ON ICE

Disney On Ice scheduled on April 15-18 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi has been postponed. The new date is Sept.9-12, 2020.

All World Trade Organisati­on ( WTO) meetings are suspended until the end of April and Secretaria­t staff have been requested to work from home until the end of March.
