Indians can return to UAE on ICA’S approval
ABU DHABI: Indians with valid UAE residency, currently residing in India, must obtain the necessary approval for return to the UAE from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and must also meet conditions set by other competent authorities in the UAE, the UAE Embassy in India has stressed.
As far as the no-objection leters for travelling is concerned they are issued by the UAE only under certain humanitarian cases, the embassy added.
The embassy has further stressed that it is commited to the decisions of the Indian authorities with regards to continued closure of Indian airports and imposition of restraints not allowing foreign airlines to transport passengers.
Meanwhile, the government of India has decided to collect information from arriving nationals on repatriation flights that will explore possibilities of finding employment for them as part of their resetlement. The move comes on account of global disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for Indians returning from abroad, including the Gulf.
Resources of the Ministry of Civil Aviation among others are being pooled in organising the repatriation flights.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs is streamlining the repatriation through its embassies and consulates and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will help in this resetlement programme.
Explainingthepoolingofresources,dr.mahendra Nath Pandey, the Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said: “These are testing times and it is crucial that the entire country comes together and supports the Central government in its efforts to address the challenges posed by the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He said the data collected from returning Indians upon arrival will help them to find jobs and “bridge the current demand-supply gap in employment.”
He aims to create a database of returnees based on their skills, use state-of-the-art technology for skill mapping and tap into and fulfil the demand for skilled workers from Indian and foreign companies as the economy recovers from the lockdown caused by the coronavirus.
