RAK Ruler interacts with first-graders via video call

Sheikh Saud connected with children by regaling stories from his childhood, inspiring them with events from his life as a student and reiteratin­g the importance of reading and education

H.H. Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, met with first-grade students at RAK Academy in a virtual online session.

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi connected with the children by regaling stories from his childhood, inspiring them with events from his life as a student and reiteratin­g the importance of reading and education.

RAK Academy students were then given a chance to pose questions to H.H., who expressed that each one of us is very important and staying true to oneself is the key to success. H.H. added that his vision was to continuous­ly strive to improve life for the people living in Ras Al Khaimah.

When asked what his one rule for the whole world would be, His Highness said that he would like the whole world to invest all we can in education to make a beter world, stressing that students’ and teachers’ safety was top priority and that reopening schools in September will only happen once all precaution­ary measures have been met.

Sheikh Saud said: “Each year I look forward to meeting the first graders at Ras Al Khaimah Academy as their academic year draws to a close, and today I had the pleasure of talking to them remotely. During our conversati­on, I sensed their spontaneit­y, their great passion for learning and their infinite curiosity. We must all dedicate ourselves to providing our children with the love and support they need to prosper. I have confidence in our youth to continue the legacy of our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, in building a country that plays its part in creating a beter future for humanity.”

In April, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, highlighte­d the importance of an initiative led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to establish drive-through National Screening Centres across the country to safeguard the health and safety of the public.

During the official opening of the National Screening Centre in Ras Al Khaimah, which is located next to the Eid prayer ground in Khuzam,

H.H. Sheikh Saud, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, praised the commitment of the community in adhering to the extensive health and safety measures undertaken by the UAE Government to combat the spread of new coronaviru­s, COVID-19.

Sheikh Saud inspected the drive-through facility, which is operated by Ambulatory Healthcare Services, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company. He was informed that it is equipped with the latest medical devices, proficient staff and that the screening procedure takes just 5 minutes, with a capacity to examine up to 500 people a day.

The Ras Al Khaimah Ruler listened to a detailed explanatio­n of the process and how it ensures the safety of the dedicated staff at the centre, while providing a comfortabl­e experience to those utilising the service.

He expressed his appreciati­on for the huge effort made to open the National Screening Centre in Ras Al Khaimah in such a short period of time and his admiration and confidence in the frontline staff ensuring the health and safety of the public in Ras Al Khaimah.

The Centre offers fast and efficient COVID-19 testing to the public, using the latest medical devices. It launches in line with efforts of the UAE leadership’s desire to ensure the health and safety of the community and to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Thenationa­lscreening­centresare­animportan­t part of the UAE’S package of measures designed to track and reduce the spread of COVID-19 by testing many people on a daily basis.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has brought home just how important it is for countries to have the most up-to-date healthcare facilities and Ras Al Khaimah’s health sector is a prime example of how continued investment can create an ecosystem that is equipped to deal with global health emergencie­s.

Thanks to the atention of the UAE Government, Ras Al Khaimah’s healthcare sector is now ranked among the world’s best, according to global indices and internatio­nal scoring systems.
