Asian national jailed for beating man to death

DUBAI: The Dubai Public Prosecutio­n referred a 33-year-old Asian to the criminal court for brutally assaulting a man and causing his death.

The victim’s friend witnessed that on the day of the incident, he gathered with the victim, the defendant and another friend to drink together and spend time.

When the witness went to the washroom and came out, his phone was nowhere to be found. When he asked about the phone, the defendant accused the victim of stealing it, and the two of them began to fight.

They both began to beat each other, until the defendant kicked the victim hard in the chest, and let him lying on the floor.

Two days later, the defendant went back to their gathering place to learn that the victim had died due to his injuries.

Forensic reports revealed that the victim had died under the influence of alcohol and his death was caused by the brutal beating.

Thedefenda­ntconfesse­dtoassault­ingthevict­im, and is now jailed and facing manslaught­er charges.

In another developmen­t, a 22-year-old African was arrested and referred to the criminal court by Dubai Public Prosecutio­n, for beating, threatenin­g to kill and holding a man hostage.

Official records indicate that the defendant had another accomplice, and both lured the victim to a hotel room, tied him up and began to brutally beat him up.

The two of them had a sneaky plan of creating a fake Facebook account of a woman to lure the victim in and hold him hostage to rob his money.

They both took beating the victim and threaten to kill. The helpless victim was forced to give his credit card details for the defendants to steal Dhs30,000 and flee the scene.

The arresting officer witnessed that police had received a call reporting the incident, and as they arrived, the victim was found with bruises on his face and was immediatel­y transferre­d to the hospital to receive medical treatment.

Accordingl­y, the defendants are now facing thet, false imprisonme­nt, and assault charges.

Recently, the Dubai Criminal Court on Monday sentenced an Asian businessma­n, 36, to 8 years in jail to be followed by deportatio­n on charges of exploiting a minor, 16, with the help of a woman, who is still at large, and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

The victim testified that she came to the UAE to work and help her family in her home country. Her aunt asked a person to receive her at the airport, she said, adding that later she lived with her aunt for five months before the later requested her to work in massage centres and do sex work in return for an extra Dhs50 over her salary, she added.
