Nawaz Sharif hospitalis­ed for kidney pain in London

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was taken to a West London hospital ater developing severe kidney pain.

He was brought to the hospital by his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan and son Hussain Nawaz. A family source said Sharif visited the hospital for blood tests and CT scan.

Sharif developed kidney pain and was taken to the hospital ater it was observed that he was continuing to feel unwell.

The family source confirmed that Sharif has kidney stones for which he is being treated.

His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, who is vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-nawaz (PML-N), tweeted that her father was being treated for “severe kidney pain.” She said in a tweet that due to the pain the former prime minister could not participat­e in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting in Islamabad via video link that was chaired by alliance chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. “. . .he is being treated therefore I am representi­ng him. Would request for prayers.”

Dr Adnan Khan said on Twiter: “Sharif had scans and investigat­ions at King Edward VII’S Hospital followed by consultati­on and medical review for treatment optimisati­on.”

Earlier this year, medical records from a UK hospital showed that Sharif was suffering from various ailments, including a severe cardiac disease.

The Royal Brompton Hospital had issued three reports: Rubidium Cardiac PET-CT scan on three pages; Holter Analysis on 16 pages; and Echocardio­gram on three pages.

Launching a staunch atack on Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam on Wednesday said that the functionin­g of a 220-million strong country has been let in the hands of someone “who was incapable of even running a union council even.”

Maryam was addressing a mammoth rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhw­a’s Mansehra district, Geo TV reported.

Maryam, as she began her address, said that wherever she goes to hold a rally, she sees a swarm of youth present to support

PML-N. “And the spirited elderly are not far behind.” “Nawaz Sharif has deep rooted ties with Hazara and Mansehra [...] you will not be able to deny Nawaz Sharif fulfilled his promises to you and lived up to the relationsh­ip he has shared with you.

“And he is paying the price of all that love he has shown you. So do you stand witness to the promises he fulfilled?

“He promised a motorway. Did he not built it?” she asked, referring to the Hazara Motorway.

She said that those “who did not even install a brick had very cleverly put their own name plaque on projects.”
