Preventive procedures for Omani citizens entering UAE

ABU DHABI: The UAE Government held its regular media briefing on Tuesday on the efforts to limit the spread of coronaviru­s, COVID-19, as well as on the preventive procedures related to the entry of Omani citizens through the country’s land ports.

It also announced the launch of a precaution­ary and preventive guide covering various activities and national celebratio­ns.

Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, Official Spokespers­on of the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, NCEMA, said that since the announceme­nt of re-opening of land borders between the UAE and Oman, many inquiries were raised about the entry procedures for Omani citizens.

Relevant requiremen­ts must be fulfilled before gaining entry into the country, to guarantee the implementa­tion of preventive measures, in line with the highest standards of health and safety for UAE citizens and residents, he added, noting that persons coming from Oman are required to show a negative result on a PCR test conducted within 48 hours of arrival at a land ports.

Al Dhaheri also pointed out that the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MOHAP, will provide the General Authority for Ports, Borders and Free Zones Security with a list of the accredited testing centres in Oman.

Regarding DPI tests, he noted that an immediate DPI will be carried out upon arriving in the country’s land ports, and if the result is positive, a PCR test will be conducted and persons will be returned to Oman until their test results are proven negative.

But if the result is negative, a person can enter the country ater installing the appropriat­e health monitoring apps, he further added, stressing that everyone must adhere to quarantine procedures according to the regulation­s of each emirate.

Al Dhaheri stressed that visitors should undergo the required tests, which are a PCR test on the fourth day if they plan to stay in the country for over four days, a PCR test on the eighth day if they plan to stay for over eight days, or a PCR test on the 12th day in they plan to stay for over 12 days.
