The mother was giving the boy a bath. She let the boy in the tub for a while and went out of the restroom. Upon her return to the privy, she noticed the boy was unconscious.

The parents took the boy to the Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, but it was too late. According to preliminary investigation, the boy suffered brain damage. Officers from Buhairah Police Station are investigating the tragic incident. A file has been moved to the competent authorities.

The UAE authorities have launched educational videos to inculcate parents to avoid such uncalled for situations.

Recently, a 6- year-old em ira ti boy, rash id ham ad, died ater falling into a sewage manhole, at his family’s house in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The incident took place approximately at 8pm, when the child Rashid was playing at the house’s yard, before his mother realised that he was not inside the house, according to the child’s uncle Sultan Rashid.

The boy’s mother searched for him inside and outside the house, but did not find him, so she called her husband, who brought his siblings to look for him, Sultan added.

They saw that the sewage manhole in the yard was partially open due to maintenance work, so they immediately searched for him in the sewage sump. They searched twice inside the manhole, but he was not found, so they contacted the Civil Defence rescue teams, who rushed to the place, Sultan said.

“Through a long log of wood, a solid object was detected in the botom. They moved the piece of wood strongly, which led to the child’s body to float,” Rashid’s uncle said.

He added that artificial respiration was performed in order to save his life, but he had passed away.
