UAE detects 1,153 new cases of COVID-19

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MOHAP, announced that it conducted 120,041 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronaviru­s cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

As part of its intensifie­d testing campaign, MOHAP announced 1,153 new coronaviru­s cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 155,254.

According to the Ministry, the infected individual­s are from various nationalit­ies, are in a stable condition, and are receiving the necessary care.

MOHAP also announced 2 deaths due to COVID-19 complicati­ons, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 544.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolence­s to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery, calling on all members of the society to cooperate with health authoritie­s, adhere to the instructio­ns and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MOHAP also noted an additional 932 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 146,469.

More than 55.93 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronaviru­s globally and 1,343,584? have died, according to a Reuters tally published Thursday.

With 248,574 deaths and over 11 million confirmed cases, the United States tops the list of twenty countries with the highest recorded infections and deaths in the world.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territorie­s since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

India recorded 45,576 new cases of the coronaviru­s, taking total infections to 8.96 million, data from the health ministry said on Thursday.

Deaths rose by 585, with the total now at 131,578, the ministry said.

The South Asian nation has the world’s secondhigh­est number of COVID-19 infections, ater the United States, but cases have been falling since hiting a peak in September.
