The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is investing in human capital and enabling all members of the society to develop capabilities in various fields, said Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences.

Al Amiri made these remarks after the BBC named her on its list of the 100 most “inspiring and influential” women of 2020.

She thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for being a role model and a source of inspiration for all.

“This selection testifies to the effective and influential role played by the UAE’S women and the progress they have made in various scientific fields, thanks to the unlimited support of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF),” she added.

This year’s BBC 100 Women highlights those who are leading a change and making a difference during these turbulent times, especially the women who contributed to mitigating the impacts of COVID-19.

Earlier this year, Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences and Deputy Project Manager of the Emirates Mars Mission, stated that the successful launch of the “Hope Probe” is the outcome of the efforts of Emirati engineers who worked on the project and received the support of the UAE’S leadership, which believes in the nation’s youth and enabled them to work, develop and excel.

She then congratulated the UAE’S leadership, members of the Emirates Mars Mission, the UAE Space Agency and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, MBRSC, for the successful launch.

“The ‘Hope Probe’ has added an important dimension to the UAE’S space sector activities,” she said, noting that the project will ensure the UAE’S leading stature among countries with experience in the space sector.

Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri stated that the UAE creates opportunities for its citizens before they even dream of them, noting that this should encourage everyone to work hard to reinforce the country’s leadership and preserve its overall achievements.

The Hope Probe, which is expected to reach Mars in February 2021, coinciding with the UAE’S Golden Jubilee celebrations, is a national project that highlights the vision of the UAE’S leadership to establish an Emirati space programme, which will reflect the country’s commitment to promoting international cooperation and partnerships in finding solutions to global challenges for the well-being of humankind.

The Hope Probe which will send a message of hope to the peoples of the world aims to revive the rich Arab and Islamic history in the area of science, and affirms the UAE ambitions to defy the impossible and shape a bright future for humanity.

GPSSA: The General Pension and Social Security Authority, GPSSA, announced that it is beginning to proactively update its data on retirees over the age of 60 and women eligible to receive pensions, both widows and unmarried women, without requiring them to request this service and the need to visit any of its services centres.

The service was launched as part of the proactive virtual administration initiatives of the Ministry of Possibilities, which also cover the deaths of retirees and the marriage or divorce of eligible women.

Mohamed Bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services at the UAE Government, stated that the UAE Government has adopted unconventional work models based on developing proactive services and offering them to customers, reflecting the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to redefine government work concepts and practices and create a new generation of government services that will make the lives of people easier and strengthen the country’s regional and international leadership and competitiveness.
