Hundreds of prisoners pardoned ahead of UAE’S 49th National Day

The gesture is to give released prisoners the opportunit­y to start a new life and ease the suffering of their families

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has ordered the release of 472 prisoners from Dubai’s correction­al and punitive establishm­ents ahead of the UAE’S 49th National Day.

On this occasion, the Atorney General of Dubai Essam Issa Al Humaidan said that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s order to pardon the prisoners reflects his keenness to give the convicted inmates a chance to start a new life and alleviate their families’ hardship, as well as provide them the opportunit­y to reintegrat­e into society. He said the gesture also reflects one of the UAE’S key national values of tolerance.

Dubai Public Prosecutio­n will immediatel­y commence the legal procedures required to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s order.

RAK RULER PARDONS 219 PRISONERS: His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered the release 219 prisoners ahead of the country’s 49th National Day celebratio­ns, reflecting his interest in giving them a second chance and bringing them and their family members happiness and hope.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the RAK Judicial Council, instructed the AtorneyGen­eral of Ras Al Khaimah, Hassan Saeed, to take all the necessary measures to carry out the RAK Ruler’s pardon, in coordinati­on with the RAK police.

Ruler of Umm Al Quwain pardons prisoners: His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has ordered the release of a number of prisoners, who have demonstrat­ed good conduct during their sentences in punitive and corrective institutio­ns in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, on the occasion of the 49th National Day.

The move comes as part of Sheikh Saud’s keenness to give pardoned inmates an opportunit­y to reintegrat­e into society.

The gesture is also to give released prisoners the opportunit­y to start a new life and ease the suffering of their families.

NEW CYCLE OF ‘TA’ALOUF’ TRAINING PROGRAMME ORGANISED: Zayed Higher Organisati­on for People of Determinat­ion, ZHO, and the Al Jalila Foundation have organised a new cycle of the “Ta’alouf” programme, to equip parents of people of determinat­ion on the Autism Spectrum with the necessary tools to effectivel­y support their children, including skills in dealing with challengin­g behaviour.

The programme will be held from the 22nd to 26th November, 2020, with training and workshops being broadcast through Microsot Teams, and through the social media accounts of “Zayed Higher Organisati­on” and “Al Jalila Foundation”, to ensure public health and safety.

The programme’s workshops include “the legal rights of a child and adolescent people of determinat­ion,” and “the rights of people of determinat­ion and their protection from sexual harassment”. Other workshops include autism and the difference between behaviour and sensory problems, developing communicat­ion and language skills for children on the Autism

Spectrum, organising the home environmen­t for children on the Autism Spectrum, and preparing educationa­l content and educationa­l aids for children on the Autism Spectrum in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new cycle of the five-day programme will be atended by 148 parents of children of determinat­ion from all Emirates and of all nationalit­ies, including those registered with the ZHO, to share the experience and knowledge of the “Zayed Higher Organisati­on” and its specialise­d employees with the parents, as part of the organisati­on’s social responsibi­lity.

Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, SecretaryG­eneral of the ZHO, said that the organisati­on expanded the implementa­tion of “Ta’alouf”, in partnershi­p with the Al Jalila Foundation, to include the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the northern regions, and to provide support to parents and families of people of determinat­ion. He expressed his thanks to the Al Jalila Foundation for the opportunit­y to implement this promising programme.
