Sharjah Police announce reduction in traffic fines

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Police General Directorat­e, based on the decision of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), and coinciding with the UAE’S celebratio­ns of the 49th National Day, announced the reduction of traffic fines by 50%, as of December 2, 2020, for a period of 49 days, according to Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police.

Al Shamsi added that the police started taking all measures to implement the decision on time, indicating that the decision includes all violations commited before December 1, 2020, with the exception of the major violations. The decision also includes canceling vehicle impoundmen­t and traffic points.

Al Shamsi also affirmed the Sharjah Police’s keenness to support all the steps taken by the Sharjah government to provide all services to persons, based on the comprehens­ive vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the vision of Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, focusing on alleviatin­g the financial burdens on community members, and providing them with the opportunit­y to setle down their legal situation.

The Sharjah Police’s Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department has now issued a two-year ownership for individual­s driving light vehicles.

This decision comes in line with the Department’s plan to provide high-quality police services for community members, in manner that meets their demands.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, stressed on the keenness of Sharjah Police to adopt an ambitious plan of upgrading services, in order to save time and effort for individual­s and achieve maximum satisfacti­on with the provided services.

In addition, Lt. Col. Khalid Al Kai, Director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, said that drivers are required to present a valid insurance document for two years and pay the fees due for that, which is an optional service for all individual­s.

Recently, the Sharjah Police General Directorat­e organised a virtual series of awareness-raising sessions that target students all over the Emirate to shed the light on the issue bullying and its negative impacts.
