DSC discusses cooperatio­n with Ligue 1 club Saint-etienne

DUBAI: Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of DSC, received Bernard Caiazzo, the president of one of France’s oldest clubs AS Saint-etienne, at the council’s headquarte­rs.

Hareb, who welcomed Caiazzo, in the presence of Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC, presented him with a copy of “My Story”, the anecdotal memoir of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The representa­tives of DCS and Caiazzo discussed mutual cooperatio­n and investment opportunit­ies.

Caiazzo, who is also the president of the Premiere Ligue union which brings together the vast majority of Ligue 1 clubs and is focused on modernizin­g French football and improving its competitiv­eness, expressed his happiness at visiting Dubai and meeting with the officials of DSC and was delighted with the discussion regarding the opportunit­ies of bilateral cooperatio­n and investment.

The president of the French League club, who are making their 17th consecutiv­e season in the top flight of French football, was described during a tour of the Council’s headquarte­rs that how DSC promotes and encourages sports in the country at many different levels, including the grassroots and community level, and in developing Dubai’s sports sector as well as bringing top internatio­nal sports events to Dubai, and in organising and supporting different local and internatio­nal sports events.

Founded in 1933, Saint-etienne are one of the most prestigiou­s clubs in France having won 10 Ligue 1 titles, six Coupe de France titles, a Coupe de la Ligue title and five Trophee des Champions. Several greats of French football like Michel Platini and national team players have played for the club, who are known as the Les Verts (The Green).

Eralier, the council welcomed former France and Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre and ex-arsenal and England midfield ace Jack Wilshere at their headquarte­rs and presented them also with a copy of ‘My Story’.

The duo were also feted with the ‘Medal of First Line of Defence’ as well. Hareb presented ‘My Story’ and the commemorat­ive medals to Silvestre and Wilshere at the DSC office.

The ‘Medal of First Line of Defence’ pays homage to the selfless service of Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Health Authority, and Dubai Corporatio­n for Ambulance Services in the fight to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in Dubai.
